چکیده
Abstract Orchidaceae, one of the most numerous families in world's flora, have evolved various pollination strategies to favour cross-pollination, such as deceptive and pollinarium reconfiguration. Among terrestrial orchids Mediterranean, only species belonging genus Serapias show a strategy defined shelter imitation. The floral elements form tubular structure that insects use during their resting phases. purpose this paper was clarify mechanisms guarantee with particular attention morphological interactions between pollinators whether pollinaria reconfiguration is necessary promotion cross-pollination Serapias. Breeding system experiments hand treatments indicated highly self-compatible, shows low value natural fruit set pollinator limited. Time-lapse photos showed had no refolding stipe or caudicle after its removal from flower. morphology flower determined attack on occiput/vertex insect. When insect left flower, unable encounter stigma. made second visit another pollen masses first ended up stigma at same time, picked pollinarium. Our observations analyses suggested are crucial success prevent self-pollination thus unnecessary orchids, species, for crosspollination. represent case plant pollinator; formation shape an essential preadaptation development site mimicry originating exclusively among Mediterranean orchids.

Doing the twist: A test of Darwin's cross-pollination hypothesis for pollinarium reconfiguration.
Mating success in plants depends largely on the efficiency of pollen dispersal. For hermaphrodite plants, self-pollination, either within or among flowers, can reduce mating opportunities because of pollen and ovule discounting and inbreeding depression. Self-pollination may be particularly detrimental in plants such as orchids and asclepiads that package each flower's pollen into one or more p...
متن کاملModel-free reconfiguration mechanism for fault tolerance
The problem of fault tolerant control is studied from the behavioral point of view. In this mathematical framework, the concept of interconnection among the variables describing the system is a key point. The problem is that the behavior we intend to control is not known. Therefore, we are interested in designing a fault accommodation scheme for an unknown behavior through an appropriate behavi...
متن کاملError Recovery Mechanism using Dynamic Partial Reconfiguration
In this paper an error recovery mechanism for SRAM based FPGA systems is presented. Previous recovery methods employ processor cores as a reconfiguration controller consuming notable amount of device resources and introducing additional error detection and recovery latency. The described mechanism is controlled by a finite state machine architecture providing small hardware overhead and short r...
متن کاملReconfiguration Mechanism for Holonic Manufacturing Systems
Although holonic manufacturing systems (HMS) have been recognized as a paradigm to cope with changes in manufacturing environment based on a flexible architecture, several characteristics of HMS such as re-configurability have not been characterized quantitatively. To realize these advantages, more concrete mechanisms or methodologies need to be developed. The objectives of this paper are to pr...
